Main Scripture Text: 2Timothy 2: 20-22
Identity in the House of God:
As believers we are part of God’s household with Christ being the head. We are different but united to fulfil God’s purposes within the church community and to the world (1 Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 5:23, Hebrews 3:6).
Vessels of Honor & Dishonor:
Believers being vessels in God’s house are not only categorized by their composition but also by their purpose (for honorable use or common use). While our composition is God’s prerogative, honorability is placed upon us whenever we live lives that honor God (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Honorability is not in composition but in fulfilment of the intended purpose. God uses ‘clean’ vessels for honorable purposes.
Cleansing and Sanctification:
The process of cleansing involves both God’s work in us through forgiveness and renewal, as well as our active participation through confession, obedience, and intentional living in purity (1 John 1:7, Isaiah 1:19-20).
Action point:
As believers we are encouraged to discipline ourselves, lay aside sin and unnecessary weight, renew our minds through Scripture, and worship God acceptably. It is our personal responsibility to ensure that we live in obedience to be used of God for honorable purposes. (1 Corinthians 9:27, Hebrews 12:1, 12:28, Romans 12:1-2).
