John 3;16
In John 3:16, we are reminded of the profound love of God: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
In our daily lives, the concept of love holds immense significance. We all yearn to be loved, and the act of loving others brings joy and fulfillment. In the book of John, we uncover the incredible truth that God loved us even before we knew Him. He tells us that He chose us before we had the chance to know Him fully.
John 15:16a reaffirms this truth: “[16]You did not choose me, but I chose you.”
I want you to think about the times we are at a cliff and calling our friend I’m at the end of the road no cash and my car has no fuel, would you kindly help me with sh.1000. All of us have been in such places we need help and we run to our closest people because we know they won’t let us down. Actually we all had a judgement to die we had sinned and fallen short but,,,,
John 15:13 beautifully captures the depth of love: “[13]Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Jesus laid down his life for me and you 😭 we had lied, killed, stolen things, accused other forcibly, committed sexual immorality (fornicated, adultery, lesbianism, gays) but he laid his life for my own.
Personally it’s unimaginable someone to do that for me but the truth is He did it He has the scars because he loves me.
I’m tempted to think as a parent, I only have one child and my village is asking for my child to die for the liars, hypocrite, prostitutes, thieves, fornicators, murderers all of them I don’t have another.
I will start asking why mine? why shouldn’t those people pay for their sins? i only have this one child please look for another.
But God did not look at all those that we would pay for our sins but gave his one and only son to die for me.
I find that unconditional love no one has ever offered i didn’t deserve it but he gave me anyway. That love that dying for my sins to mean it’s all paid for my sins the lies, the hypocrisy, the backbiting, the gossip 😢.
And all he’s asking from me is to believe in him that i may not perish
Most of us find it funny or just ignore that fact sometimes we even question is it even true?
He died on the cross so that i may be forgiven. He knows me even before i am formed in my mother’s womb. He chose me even before i chose him.
All that’s required for us is to believe so that we may not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 10:9 simplifies salvation: “[9]If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Salvation is as simple as confessing that Jesus is Lord with your mouth and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. It’s a testament to God’s boundless love for us.
